In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (Pokémon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.
In this direct-to-video sequel to Pokémon: The First Movie, Ash, Misty, and Brock continue exploring the Johto region, then have to rescue Pikachu after Jessie and James of Team Rocket kidnap him. The search leads them to the hidden plateau where Mewtwo has established a haven for the cloned Pokémon from the previous film. The evil Giovanni is plotting to recapture Mewtwo and renew his efforts to create an army of bio-engineered Pokémon. Aided by the reluctant Meowth, Ash and his friends defeat Giovanni and his henchman.

Satoshi is finally 10 years old, old enough to become a Pokémon Trainer. Satoshi has no choice but to take a naughty Pikachu. Pikachu will not listen to Satoshi or go inside its Monster Ball, so Satoshi must drag it along with a rope. After many failed attempts at capturing some Pokémon, Satoshi throws a rock and hits a Onisuzume. The Onisuzume gets angry and the entire flock starts chasing Satoshi and Pikachu. They run away from the Onisuzume, borrowing a bike from a red-haired girl to escape, but when they cannot go any farther, Satoshi uses his body to shield Pikachu from the attacking Pokémon. Pikachu realizes how much Satoshi cares for him and uses a powerful electric attack to drive the Onisuzume away, destroying the bicycle in the process as well.
40 years ago, a Celebi was being attacked by a Pokemon Hunter. Luckily, a young boy named Sammy saved Celebi. Using its Time Traveling power, Celebi transported himself and Sammy 40 years into the future. There, Ash, Misty, and Brock assist Sammy to the healing lake in the forest so they can heal the wounded Celebi. Unfortunately an evil Team Rocket member, Viscious a.k.a. "The Iron Masked Marauder", tries to capture Celebi using his technology. As Ash and Co. try to get away from Viscious, they also run into Jessie, James, and Meowth, who also want to capture Celebi. Soon it becomes a race against time to get Celebi and Sammy back to the forest before Celebi is caught and is used to destroy the forest and themselves.

Pokémon Chronicles, partly known in Japan as Pocket Monsters Side Stories, is a spin-off series of the Pokémon anime, revolving around characters other than Ash Ketchum. It first aired in Britain on Toonami, where the initial run has now finished. The only places where episodes are currently airing for the first time are the Caribbean, and Latin America on Cartoon Network Monday to Friday at 9:00pm EST/ 10:00 MXT. The show airs in India on Cartoon Network Thursday and Friday at 7:30pm IST. However, in Latin America, it seems the show has been cancelled because Poo Poo Power was put when Pokémon Chronicles usually is. The series made its U.S. premiere on Cartoon Network on June 3, 2006 at 7 PM US ET/PT after it ended in most other countries. In addition, episodes are available online through Cartoon Network's "Toonami Jetstream" online video site, and moved to the Miguzi block for November at 5:30 PM US EST on November 6, 2006. Four DVDs have been released in the United Kingdom, with a U.S. release still non-existent. All of the episodes have been released as extras on the first six season box sets of Pokémon in Australia. A box set containing all 22 episodes has also been released in Australia.
